
Dr. Rieke van der Graaf is an associate professor of bioethics at the Department of Bioethics and Health Humanities in the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. She is also the head of the Department and co-director of the WHO Collaboration Center for Bioethics Utrecht.
Her research interests in bioethics are research ethics, global health ethics and climate ethics. Several projects are related to the ethics of gene therapy, including gene therapy for people living with hemophilia and people with severe cardiomyopathy.
She is a member of the Dutch Health Council (committee Vaccinations) and the Dutch Central Committee on Research with Human Participants (CCMO). In the UMC Utrecht she performs moral deliberation and she chairs the Hospital Ethics Committee.
She teaches medical ethics to undergraduate and graduate students in medicine, epidemiology and other life sciences. She runs a Summer School on Global Health Ethics and Equity at Utrecht University.
