The institute mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. Within the Institute of Child Health, the research group of Prof. Stephen Hart investigates non-viral approaches to gene therapy of respiratory diseases such as cystic fibrosis and primary ciliary dyskinesia, as well as other diseases such as neuroblastoma cancers. In this work he has developed novel primary cell models, and novel nanoparticles delivering therapeutic nucleic acids including pDNA, siRNA, mRNA and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing formulations.
