The UMCU is the academic hospital of Utrecht University. It is one of the largest academic centres in the Netherlands with over 1100 beds and >11000 employees. Top-level care, research and education are organized in six strategic programs. Top-level care, research and education are organized in six strategic programs. UMCU also has excellent training facilities, offers a wide range of PhD programs and is a leader in high-quality (biomedical) education and research. DC13 will be based at the Department of Bioethics. It consists of > 40 people including full professors, associate professor, assistant professors and PhD students with a background in bioethics, health law, sociology. The Department has been designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Bioethics. The UMCU/UU Graduate School of Life Science is multidisciplinary with 16 Master programs and 15 PhD programs. PhD students are supervised according to the “training and supervision agreement” of the UU. PhD students in bioethics also follow courses at the Dutch Research School of Philosophy.
